Great place to meet friends, friendly hardworking staff.always enjoy my visit.
We stayed for four nights on the campsite adjacent to, and owned by, the pub. The only positive thing I can say is that both are close to the beach! We stopped at the site and my wife went to the pub to report our arrival and see if we had a particular pitch allocated. The landlord was not particularly welcoming and basically said park where you like. There were no pleasantries or information on the area offered. Having set up on our pitch, we decided to pop into the pub for a look around and a drink. We noted that the lunchtime opening hours were listed as 12 to 3pm. We went down at 2:10pm and it had closed! When we did eventually get in in the evening, I was shocked to discover that a pint of Guinness was 4.60!! Needless to say, we didn't stay long. Thursday night is curry night and we had read some reasonable reviews on the food. Again, we were disappointed; my lamb rogan josh comprised mainly of sauce and very little meat. We paid our bill and asked that the cost of our stay on site be included. The landlord added the cost to our bill without so much as a "thank you" or "hope you've enjoyed your stay". The site itself is uneven and poorly maintained; not what you'd expect at 15 per night. We've stayed in much better places for less. You've probably guessed, we're not planning a return visit any time soon!
Brilliant beer, great grub and a great pub! Entertained by a local cover band and the landlord joined in playing guitar! Well recommended!
Lovely traditional pub, with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. Good traditional food. Enjoyed our visit and would call in again
The beer and food are both excellent.Trevor the Pub Guvnor is despite his what seems brash demeanor a fabulous host and enjoys a fair bit of banter.Dogs are welcome in the bar area if you choose to eat.The upper restaurant area is dog free.Friday evenings often see live music.
